Take the challenge and race or enjoy the best spectator course in Saskatchewan!

The Venue and Race Course
The race course is located in Wascana Trails just northwest of Regina, SK.   The trails were the host of the 2005 Canada Games Mountain Bike Race, and has been the site of the Wascana Challenge for over 10 years.   Young athletes from across Canada have raced on this course and you can too! This race course has a mix of everything including open flats, wooded downhills and climbs, as well as tricky technical sections.   The race also has modified course sections for some categories that skip the tough sections.   One lap of the course is 7-8km.

Over $1000 in Prizes
Western Cycle always provides an excellent prize selection. The majority of participants go home with a prize every year. This year there is over $1000 in prizes, including but not limited to:
  • Mavic Crossland Wheels ($475 value)
  • Camelbacks
  • Cycling Computers
  • Trek Clothing / Apparrel
  • Waterbottles

  • Race Details and Information
No matter if you are a beginner who has never raced a mountain bike event before, or an elite series racer who has been racing for years, the Wascana Challenge is an event you will not want to miss.

There is a category for everyone, and they are broken down to skill and age levels. The category will determine how many laps of the race course you must complete:

Citizen is the beginner category and is perfect for anyone who is new to racing or unsure of a category. The race is short (usually 1 lap) and you will have more than enough time to complete your race.

Sport is a race category that attracts riders of many different skill levels and has 6 age levels. Most of the participants enjoy mountain biking often during the season and usually race 3 laps.

Expert is made up of 8 different age categories and is raced mostly by serious racers who train during the year. (Number of laps is usually 4-5)

Elite is the highest level of racing and participants race the most laps (usually +1 lap more than Expert). These racers are some of the best in Saskatchewan and Canada.

Race entry fees are per person, as follows:

The Best Spectator Course in Saskatchewan
Racers will be riding in the scenic valley, carved out by Wascana Creek. From the top of the valley, racers and spectators alike can see almost the entire race course, making it the best spectator course in Saskatchewan. Bring your binoculars to enjoy it all!

    Post-Race Events
Racers will enjoy a full post-race meal included in your entry fee.

As part of the Saskatchewan Cup MTB Series, race winners will be announced following the race.   All participants and volunteers are eligible for sweet draw prizes following the race.
