Wednesday night races! The bread and butter of the ORS. Race your bike pals, race yourself, just come out and get faster!

WHEN: Wednesday Nights.  From April to end of August. Races start at 6:30.  Come 15 minutes early to register.

WHERE: Douglas Park Hill.  Meet at the concrete look out at the base of the hill.

WHO: All ORS members are welcome.  Men, women, kids and spectators!  You MUST be a member to race (insurance requirement!).  NO EXCEPTIONS!

WHAT:  Select the number of laps you want to complete. Usually start the season off with 1, 3, or 5 lap options. Then once everyone has found their legs again we move to 2,4,6 lap options.  Pick what suits you!  No pressure, just challenge yourself.

WHY: Why not?

The 2024 Wednesday night races starting right away! We currently use Webscorer as our primary time keeping software.

Prizes will be awarded at the City Championship race this year.

Categories include:

  • Podium finishes for each category

  • Most improved rider for each category

  • Random draws for everyone in attendance

It pays to be fast, get faster, and show up!

Strava Setup

We plan on using Webscorer for timekeeping this season.  In saying that, it is possible that we will use Strava from time to time, and there are a few things to consider before heading out to a race.

Strava added some security features that are on by default. These are great, but interfere with getting you accurate timing at the race.

Hiding start/end of all rides needs to be off or the segments will be excluded from your ride

In the app on mobile:

  • Click on "You" bottom right

  • Click the gear top right

  • Halfway down, under the Preferences heading, tap "Privacy Controls"

  • Halfway down, under "Additional Controls", tap "Map Visibility"

  • Tap the middle option, "Hide the start and end points of activities no matter where they happen"

    • Slide the slider to "No meters hidden"

While you're there, do add your home/work address to the top option, hide the start and end points at specific address. It's also worth hiding your regular locations in all the apps you share gps data to.
